flex the 2
CONFIDE | ADVISE | DO
I'm Jake. Super-fractional second in command for solo business owners.Someone to confide in, get straight advice from, and who will actually help get things done.
the problem
You started this because you were brilliant at something. Now you're buried in everything else — and no one around you quite gets it.Meanwhile the thing that actually moves your business forward can't get room to breathe.
what I do
Think of it as having someone in your corner who actually gets it, without the overhead of hiring them.Someone you can bring your real problems to. The messy ones, the ones you can't say out loud to your team. While you're busy handling marketing, investor relations, supplier negotiations, process problems and everything else that lands on your desk, the thing you're actually brilliant at isn't getting done. That's where I come in. Someone who gets the things you don't want to do off your plate. And is in your corner for the stuff that really matters. Not a consultant. Not a coach. Something more useful than both.
things I can help with
- Marketing and growth
- Investor relations
- Supplier sourcing and negotiation
- Operations refinement
- Process build and optimisation
- Go-to-market strategy
- Decision making and prioritisation
- Problem solving
“Jake gave me my focus back. He fixed process problems I'd been spinning on for months, identified and onboarded new suppliers, sorted out a load of regulatory issues, kept my investors happy, and helped kick start a new DTC brand. Thanks to Jake, I didn't have to deal with any of it, I could just go back and focus on what actually drives my business.”
— Bill Roberts, Founder, handles.ai
the feeling
The feeling at the end is usually the same, whatever we talked through or worked on.
Something shifts. The noise quiets. The things that felt urgent start to look manageable. And the thing you're actually good at, the reason you started this, feels reachable again.
No agenda, no framework, no jargon. Just an honest conversation with someone who gets it.
how it works
How I work with you depends on what you need. For some that's a regular session, space to think, offload, and reset. For others it goes further; hands-on, taking actual tasks off your plate, someone available via DM, email or a quick call when it matters. You can start small and see where it goes.
me
I've been in the room where it gets hard. As a founder, as a chief of staff, as the person who figures out what to do when there's no obvious answer. I built flex the 2 because every founder deserves someone like that in their corner. Find out more about my background → About
what's next?
If any of this resonates, let's have a conversation. No pitch, no pressure, just a chance to see if there's a fit.

case studies
handles.aihandles.ai is an end-to-end brand protection platform that helps enterprises secure, monitor, and govern their social media handles — detecting impersonators, reclaiming accounts, procuring handles across platforms, and locking down credentials and access. It's a fast-moving, technically complex business in a competitive space.Bill Roberts founded handles.ai and was growing it quickly. But as the business scaled, so did the operational demands landing on his desk. Investor relations. Compliance deadlines. Team gaps. Finance complexity. A major client relationship that needed senior attention. Bill was the only one who could deal with any of it — and it was pulling him away from the thing he does best.handles.ai became flex the 2's first client.Over the course of a year, Jake worked full time alongside Bill — taking on the operational and commercial weight that was accumulating so Bill could focus on building the business. What this looked like in practice:The EIS certificates needed managing. Investors who had backed handles.ai early needed their certificates to claim tax relief, and timelines were tightening. Jake worked through the investor platform to get everything resolved — protecting those relationships at a critical stage of the business. The data team needed building. Jake handled recruitment, onboarding and getting the team operational, removing a significant bottleneck in product development.Jake also built and implemented a project management process for the developer and design teams — ensuring work was prioritised in line with business objectives and projects were delivered on time and to spec.To build out flexible capacity, Jake assessed and vetted a pool of developers and designers, creating a curated shortlist of trusted resource that Bill could call on as the business needed. As the business grew, so did the financial complexity. Jake built and implemented processes for invoicing and credit control from the ground up, bringing structure and predictability to an area of the business that needed it.A contractor had transitioned to full-time employment and needed a visa to continue working. Jake handled the process end to end.Jake also represented handles.ai at networking events, building and securing longer term relationships with new partners on Bill's behalf. And when handles.ai's biggest client came up for renewal, Jake stepped in at senior level to manage the relationship and secure a renewed and improved contract for 2026.Throughout all of this, Bill was free to focus on what actually drives handles.ai forward. The result: handles.ai had its best quarter ever."Jake gave me my focus back. He fixed process problems I'd been spinning on for months, identified and onboarded new suppliers, sorted out a load of regulatory issues, kept my investors happy, and helped kick start a new DTC brand. Thanks to Jake, I didn't have to deal with any of it, I could just go back and focus on what actually drives my business."

Before flex the 2, I spent 20 years working alongside great brands, great leaders and some genuinely tough challenges. That's the experience I bring to every founder I work with.
Most founders come to me with something specific on their mind. A decision they're circling. A problem they can't see clearly. A weight they've been carrying alone. We talk it through. Something shifts. They leave with clarity.
